DOYLINE — The Lakeside Warriors and Doyline Panthers upped their parish rivalry Tuesday night as they meet in Doyline for "The Battle for the Paddle."
The Warriors carried the paddle home, as they defeated the Panthers, 69-61.
The Panthers led 19-12 after the first quarter, but the Warriors battled back in the second, out-scoring Doyline, 19-10, to take a 31-29 halftime lead.
Lakeside turned in a big third quarter, out-scoring Doyline, 21-15, to increase their lead to 52-44 going into the fourth quarter.
Both teams played even in the final quarter (17-17) to make the final score, 69-61.
Maurice Moore led the Warriors with 22 points and Frankie Miles added 15. Davian whiting dropped in 11 points and Nyles Moore had 10. Deandre Shehee scored eight points and Darryl Moore added three.
Lawrence Hester led Doyline with 24 points and Derek Brooks added 14. Trey Jackson had seven points and Justice Lindsey scored five. Brandon Hampton had six points and Jaylan Jackson scored five.
North Webster 97, Calvary 66
The North Webster Knights improved to 19-5 and 8-2 with a 97-66 district win over Calvary Tuesday night.
Montavious Smith led the Knights with 24 points and Lyntravious Gipson had 21.
