Lakeside Tournament to start on Thursday
SIBLEY — The Minden Crimson Tide banged out 11 hits and got great pitching from McCaul Lacobee and Caleb Jones as they shut out Lakeside, 10-0, on Tuesday.
Lacobee (2-1) started on the mound for the Tide and pitched five strong innings. He allowed no runs on two hits and struck out six. Jones came on in relief in the sixth after Lacobee walked the first two batters. Jones got out of that jam and then struck out the side in the bottom of the seventh. In all, Jones pitched two innings of no-hit ball with four strikeouts.
Corey DeMoss and Mikey James led the offense with a double and a single each. Austin Sumner had two hits and Thomas Pevy, Hutton Leppert and Turner Francis all doubled.
Lacobee and Sawyer Stephens both singled.
Cameron Corely took the loss for the Warriors and Austin Ashley, Luke Griffith and Jake Gray all singled.
The Tide opened their scoring with a five-spot in the top of the second inning. All the Minden runs came after two outs. Pevy had a two-run double and James also doubled in a run.
DeMoss and Lacobee drove in runs with a pair of singles.
The Tide added run in the third on a couple of Lakeside errors, and then added two more in the fifth and seventh innings.
In the fifth, Leppert drove in Francis with a double, and then Sumner singled in pinch-runner Austin Keogh.
In the seventh, Sumner reached on an error, and later scored on an another Lakeside error.
With the win, the Crimson Tide improved to 6-2 and the Warriors dropped to 1-6.
Both teams will next play in the upcoming Lakeside Bistineau Classic.
Lakeside will play Northwood at 7:30 p.m. at Lakeside, and Minden's first game will be 5:30 p.m. Friday at Griffith Stadium.
