Janis Goodwill

Janis Goodwill passed away Sunday, April 24, 2011 at her home following a long courageous battle with cancer.

She was born Feb. 12, 1933 in Minden to Larkin and Leo David. She graduated from Minden High School in 1951 and worked at Minden Bank and Trust Company for a few years.

goodwillShe was a lifelong faithful member of First Baptist Church and loved being a secretary in the Youth Department of Sunday School for more than 40 years. She was a member of the WMU, and the Young Women's Service Club.

All who knew and loved her remember how kind, compassionate and family-oriented she always was.

Janis is survived by her husband of 55 years, Robert (Tuby) Goodwill of Minden; daughters, Brenda Tolar and husband, Mike of Minden and Dianne Goodwill; granddaughters, Nicole Rowton and Kelly Tolar of Minden and Brandi Rowton of McKinney, Texas; grandsons, Nicholas Rowton, Jonathan Tolar and wife, Rebekah of Maryland and Will Tolar of Cotton Valley; great-grandchildren, Ethan and Katelynne Tolar; sisters, Leatrice West and husband, Claude of Minden and Cortez Cupples and husband, Doug of Minden; brother-in-law, Marion Goodwill of Shreveport; nieces, Sandra Jackson and husband, Mike, Peggy Waters and husband, Charles, Claudia Lee and husband, Steve all of Minden; nephews, David Cupples and wife, Lisa of Minden, Bill Goodwill of Shreveport and Mike Goodwill of Shreveport.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Larkin and Leo David; her nephew, Keith Cupples; her sister-in-law, Anna Faye Goodwill and Tuby's parents, Jasper and Annie Goodwill.

Her zest for life surrounded her with many close, dear friends, especially her special friend; Sarah Minter, who was her constant shopping partner. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 28, 2011 at 10 a.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel in Minden.

Officiating will be the Rev. Bill Crider. Interment will follow at Minden Cemetery under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden. The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Mike Jackson, Charles Waters, Randy Shelley, Douglas Culpepper, David Miller and Will Tolar.

Honorary pallbearers will be Claude West, Douglas Cupples, Robert Thompson, Steve Lee, David Cupples, Jonathan Tolar and FBC Chapel Class.

Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or charity of choice.
